Statically determinate beam:
Using the equations of equilibrium given below, if all the reaction components can be found out, then the beam is a statically determinate beam.
The equations of equilibrium are
ΣFx= 0 ΣFy= 0 ΣM= 0
Analysis of plane truss:
A plane truss is when the members of the truss lie in a single plane (2D analysis).
The basic element of a plane truss is a triangle. Three bars joined by pins at their ends constitute a rigid frame.
A non-rigid, moveable frame can be made with four or more bars joined at their ends. This can be made rigid by addition of a diagonal bar.
